Sherlock Knitwear was set up in 2019 when Nicola decided she would like to work solo after 14 years working as designer for brand Makepiece. 

It was not an easy decision to make to leave such a long business partnership but after taking a year out due to family health issues it became apparent that something had to change for a better life/work balance.

Thankfully an opportunity came just the right time as friend and business collegue Clare Ashton was just about to launch an exciting new shop full of local artists and makers work. This was a perfect set up for Nicola to be able to rent a space to display her knitwear.  Lower rent and working from home has proven to be a good set up freeing up valuable time needed for raising her 3 children.
